Hyper Crush @ GvR 2008
After Bad Religion cleared off the stage, the wild crowd started to dissipate. I made my way over to the V.I.P. party and grabbed a beer. I positioned myself behind the barricade so I would be able to get up close for some photos. A co-worker was really amped for Hyper Crush to play and I had never seen them. I was told I would not be dissapointed. The group got up on stage in their neo-80's get-ups. Flossing flashy neon shoes and shirts and acid washed jeans, my curiousity perked up. The bass dropped and the crowd started jumping. It's hard to describe their sound; Perhaps it might be Peaches x Vanilla Ice x Nintendo x Elektronik Supersonik.
But if people just wanted to listen to music, they would stay at home. This is not a group to only jam out to in the car. If they're coming out to a town near you, get your tickets. The Hyper Crush party will be larger than the venue. It's funny because I'm not typically drawn to this type of music but their stage presense shouts fun. Perhaps it was the laser light show (partly coming from gloves worn by the keytarist), or the nintendo gun, or the hot pink shoes. I find it difficult to find anything negative about the show. Needless to say check em out!
